CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS FOR:
THE EXCELLENCE IN LIBRARIANSHIP AWARDS
As part of its commitment to encourage excellence in library services in the Peace region, the Peace Library System annually presents two librarians -- one in public library service and one in school library service -- with Excellence in Librarianship awards. The Excellence in Librarianship Award is available only to librarians working for libraries that are members of the Peace Library System.
Each award consists of a framed certificate and financial assistance to attend the Alberta Library Conference, the Rural Libraries Conference, or a conference of one’s choice.
The awards will be presented at the Rural Libraries Conference on September 30, 2010.
Purpose
The awards are designed to encourage innovation and recognize outstanding achievement in public library service and school library service.
Eligibility
The individuals must be library employees or volunteers of a school library or a public library participating in the Peace Library System. The nominee must be an employee of the library at the time of nomination.
Selection Process
An independent jury reviews the nominations and selects the recipient(s). An award is not necessarily given in each category each year.
Nomination Submissions
System member librarians, Board members, school administrators, teachers, or members of the public may submit nominations. Please submit the attached nomination form by the deadline date.
The nomination information provided by you is the only criteria by which the jury chooses the award winners. Therefore we encourage you to provide as much detail as possible about the nominee in your submission. The enclosed nomination form must accompany your nomination but you are welcome to submit extra pages and letters of support that will assist the jury in their selection.
Submissions shall be addressed to the Awards Committee and marked confidential. All nominations will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
